Jan 31st, Paul's group will set up the wiki for the other group members

Feb 1st Dan and PaulS groups will register and complete activity to practice
using the wiki. Members practice using the forum feature for communicating between members and a protocol is set up for contacting members that are out of school or sick and can’t complete online work.

from paul t: a good first lesson would be to have the students register and join the space. you will need to approve them before they can edit anything. paul, i have changed your status to organizer, so you have the POWER. when dan and mary ellen join the space i will also give them organizer status.)

once that is done the kids should then post something to their group wiki page and also add a discussion post on that page. for homework kids need to have a conversation on the wiki about their expectations of the project.

Mary Ellen:February 15th: I have begun to leave messages for groups; I have finished the first ten and will comment on every group over the vacation. You might want to mention this to your classes after vacation. I'm available for guidance in their editing, if they need help. Most of what I'm saying has to do with peer editing. Their pages might be correct in terms of what they had to accomplish, but I'm trying to have them revise for grammar, spelling, and clarity. I will also post for you guys what I would like to do for the Wiki presentation, which I tentatively scheduled in the media center on February 28th and 29th, during period 5. We would have to get permission to have the students out of classes, and I think it might be good to have a catered lunch right in the media center. Do we charge a flat fee for the kids that day? Could we have it covered? I will work on more ideas through vacation. I'll now fill in what I need to do for the conference.

paul t- i plan on finishing this project by feb. 11th so that we can begin reading the book. by the way, there are many good lesson ideas on the "during reading" portion of the unit here: http://memory.loc.gov/learn/lessons/98/mock/lesson.html
